As a kid, Caitlin filled up rolls of disposable camera film with her favorite subjects dressed up, posing, and striking their best looks. Much to her mother's chagrin upon getting the dozens of rolls of film processed, it was found that Caitlin's favorite subject as a child was... cats. She would catch them in their various moods, wrap them up neatly in blankets, put doll hats on them, and would place frilly umbrellas as their backdrop. To this day, we are not sure how she escaped working with such exotic creatures unscathed.
Down the road, she progressed from disposable cameras to Canon point and shoots and eventually worked her way to a Canon 35mm SLR. She would talk her friends into photoshoots and even went the selfie route before selfies were canonized as acceptable modern art. Think Cindy Sherman but far less polished in the approach...
Caitlin went to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where she received her BA in Cinema & Photography. At SIUC, she had a large format film class where she shot with the old 4x5 cameras. Between shooting on large film in small quantities and processing in the darkroom, this experience taught Caitlin to slow down in her approach.
After graduating, Caitlin moved to Haiti and lived with missionaries for six months for a reset and, during that time, she photographed the beautiful country along with its people. Meanwhile, a handsome young gentleman began wooing her and he quickly won over her heart. About 8 months later, the two married and Caitlin moved from her home in Illinois to live in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Caitlin currently holds a part-time "real job" working for a superyacht builder but the rest of the time, she works alongside her husband to produce artwork for clients that come through their recording studio, Vanquish Studios.
And to this day...
She still loves cats.
